Supercritical Fluid Chromatography. A supercritical fluid chromatography coupled with an electron-spray ionization tandem mass spectrometer (SFC-ESI-MS/MS) method was developed for the analysis of three commercially bought dried plant products (labeled A, Y, and G) for eight synthetic cannabinoids [89]. A phase diagram combines plots of pressure versus temperature for the liquid-gas, solid-liquid, and solid-gas phase-transition equilibria of a substance. These diagrams indicate the physical states that exist under specific conditions of pressure and temperature, and also provide the pressure dependence of the phase-transition temperatures (melting points, sublimation points, boiling points).

As the critical temperature is approached (300 K), the density of the gas at equilibrium becomes denser, and that of the liquid becomes lower. supercritical fluid in the phase diagram shown in Fig. 1a is. not too constructive, first of all, since the structure and. properties of fluids change far from the critical point quite. In particular, supercrical fluids (SCFs) possess liquid-like densities, gas-like viscosities and diffusities intermediate to that of a liquid and a gas.
Instrumentation of Supercritical Fluid Chromatography 1. Mobile phase 2. This phase of matter is called a supercritical fluid, and the temperature and pressure above which this phase exists is the critical point (Figure 10.35). Above its critical temperature, a gas cannot be liquefied no matter how much pressure is applied. However, this step causes the temperature-sensitive materials to decompose. For SFE, when the critical pressure is removed, a supercritical fluid transforms to gas phase.

This report examines the basic technology of Supercritical fluids and evaluates the current applications and possible future uses of this technology. Supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) is a variant of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in which a supercritical fluid is used to replace the liquid mobile phase.
Describe the supercritical fluid phase of matter. In the previous module, the variation of a liquid’s equilibrium vapor pressure with temperature was described.

It can diffuse through solids like a gas, and dissolve materials like a liquid. Additionally, close to the critical point, small changes in pressure or temperature result in large changes in density, allowing many properties to be "tuned". 1.
